Christopher Mathewson was born on August 12, 1880, in Factoryville, Pennsylvania (died on October 7, 1925). Christy, nicknamed “Big Six”, “The Christian Gentleman”, “Matty”, or “The Gentleman’s Hurler”, was a MLB right-handed pitcher who played 17 seasons with the New York Giants.
